Storefront is Online
As promised, here are more details about yesterday's Storefront issue. (By clicking on Incident 5043, you can review the full history.)
Incident Summary
Storefront customers may have encountered access issues for their Storefronts on January 27, 2009 from approximately 21:30 UTC to 22:30 UTC. Our Network Operations Center (NOC), Operations and Development teams worked to address the cause of the intermittent to offline access issues. They identified high database connections and built a temporary work-around to restore services.
As a result of this incident, our NOC team refined their procedures for Storefront services. A Change Request was also successfully implemented to alter the database timeout parameters. We continue to investigate database optimization for your Storefront services. As well, a problem ticket remains open to track monitoring of database connection behaviour. (This type of ticket is used for more in depth investigations for our services.)

Storefront is Online
Storefront services are fully online. Our Operations and Development teams addressed the high database connection issue which resulted in customers experiencing intermittent Storefront access issues from approximately 21:30 UTC. This appeared to be resolved at that time, however it reoccurred. We changed the status to degraded followed by offline while we worked to fix it. Storefront services were restored.
We continue our investigation. By end of business day tomorrow (January 28, 2009), we will provide you with an incident summary detailing what happened and what we did to fully resolve this incident.

Storefront is Offline
Our Operations and Development team have requested that our NOC (Network Operations Center) and Support team continue to test Storefront services. At this time, your Storefront should be available. We are testing and continuing our investigation. We will leave the status as Offline until we confirm that all services are fully restored.

Customers are unable to access their Storefronts at this time. Our Operations and Development team are investigating high database connections. We are working to get this service restored as quickly as possible.

The .COM registry has scheduled a maintenance for the next 45 minutes. (Starts at 01:00 UTC)
Service Impact:
Domain provisioning and WHOIS will be unavailable. Customers who have enabled provisioning queuing will have their orders queued until this complete. Domains will continue to resolve normally.

The .NET registry has scheduled a maintenance for the next 45 minutes. (Starts at 01:00 UTC)
