Monitoring indicates that the issue affecting domain extensions that require manual processing (.AT, .CH, .DK, .ES, .FR, .LI and .MX.) has been resolved fully and everything is back online and working as expected.

We're still investigating the cause, and we'll update this post with that information once we have it.

Domain Service is Degraded

We've noticed a problem that's affecting a number of different domain extensions - specifically the ones that involve manual processing through the OpenSRS system. Those include: .AT, .CH, .DK, .ES, .FR, .LI and .MX.

When you attempt to manage domains in these extensions, you'll see an error message displayed. Additionally, domain availability checks will return "undetermined" for these extensions.

We're investigating the cause and we'll provide a further update when we know more about what's happening.

This morning at approximately 05:30 EDT (09:30 GMT), we experienced a database error which would result in our systems throwing an error during a domain name renewal or registration, although the transaction was successful at the Registry.

As a result of this error, you may have customer domain name renewals and registrations stuck in a 'pending' state, although the domain is fully live at the Registry and in the WHOIS database. This could result in some confusion with your end users who may believe the transaction was unsuccessful. Your Reseller account was also NOT debited for the domain registration / renewal.

The error was resolved at approximately 15:00 EDT (19:00 GMT), although we have secondary efforts underway to reconcile the domain names which are currently in this pending state.

More information will be provided early this week that will explain the event in more detail. To report any further issues, please contact your account manager, or our Support Team.

We apologize for this inconvenience and will work with you to fully reconcile the orders processed within your order management systems and your Reseller account.

We're currently investigating an issue where domain renewals would happen successfully at the Registry, but enter into a 'pending' status within our system and your Reseller account would not be debited the appropriate funds. This applies to all TLDs. We hope to provide more detail on this problem soon.

Since the order status is "pending" and the domain renewals are processed at the Registry, we're keeping the Domains Service status "Online". If anything changes or we learn of a greater impact, we'll move the status to "Degraded".

On Saturday, September 24, 2011 between 5:00 A.M. and 9:00 A.M. EST (0900 and 1300 UTC) we will be performing maintenance on the OpenSRS Platform.

During this window we will be performing a hardware upgrade to part of our network infrastructure. We are allocating four hours for this maintenance but we don't anticipate requiring the entire window. Actual service interruption should be approximately 15-20 minutes with the potential for slightly longer periods. The team will work actively to minimize the impact of all maintenance work.

All services (including Domains, Blogware, Parked Pages, Storefront, Trust Services and Website Builder) are expected to be unavailable intermittantly during the window. Domains will continue to resolve, but DNS provisioning will be unavailable.

You can view real-time status updates for all OpenSRS services at any time by visiting: http://www.opensrsstatus.com/

UPDATE: The re-indexing completed as expected and data is once again in sync.

Users of the new OpenSRS Control Panel may notice some inconsistencies in data today (including data not appearing, or updating as expected). We've identified the cause of these inconsistencies and we'll be performing unscheduled maintenance later this evening to re-index the data.

Please note this is also affecting Trust Service (SSL) and Publishing Service (goMobi) along with the Domain Service.

This unscheduled maintenance will begin at around 5:00 P.M. EDT (21:00 UTC) and is expected to last between 3 to 3.5 hours total. There won't be any downtime associated with the maintenance, but you may experience further inconsistencies in data until the maintenance is complete.

We apologize for any inconvenience this issue is causing.
