Some users attempting to log into webmail using Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 (with Microsoft SmartScreen filtering enabled) are seeing a warning that the site they are visiting has been deemed unsafe.

It looks as though Microsoft's SmartScreen service has mis-identified a large number of sites as being unsafe, including our hostedemail.com webmail domain. You can learn more about SmartScreen at http://www.microsoft.com/security/filters/smartscreen.aspx

A Twitter search shows that our email service is not alone in being mis-identified as unsafe: http://twitter.com/#!/search/smartscreen

Be assured that there is no issue with our webmail and your customers can safely ignore the warning to access their webmail. We've reached out to Microsoft to see what's going on with SmartScreen and we'll let you know what we find out. POP and IMAP connections are unaffected, as are users with browsers other than Internet Explorer 8.
