Domain provisioning, renewals, transfers, availability checks and modifications to .NAME domains will not be possible. Customers who have enabled provisioning queuing will have their orders queued until this complete.

.name is now back online. We don't have a root cause for the outage, but if we get one from the registry, we'll update this post.

Update from VeriSign on the root cause:

"This is to inform you that on Friday, August 19, 2011, the .name Production environment experienced an outage. The outage was first reported at 11:01 AM ET with service restored at 12:11 PM ET. This outage was caused by a hardware problem. The problem has been corrected and the system is now operational and stable. Verisign Service Request 8552 was opened to track this issue."

We're currently experiencing an issue with .NAME registrations. Existing .NAME domains will resolve, but new registrations are affected. We've notified the .NAME registry and are waiting for resolution or further details.
