Tucows initiated DDoS mitigation protocol to block the offending traffic and to stabilize the platform. At 2:55 PM ET, The DDoS attack subsided and all the services were restored successfully.
At 3:49 PM ET, Tucows encountered another service interruption due to a second DDoS attempt. Due to the nature of the attack, Tucows had to amend the dynamic rules, and thresholds to auto-mitigate the abusive traffic. At 5:38 PM ET, The DDoS attack subsided and all the impacted services were restored.
Tucows refined the dynamic rules to auto-mitigate the abusive traffic in a timely manner.
Tucows is to further review and enhance the overall security against malicious traffic.
